A bevy of butts blinking hello in the twilight-

This is going to be one of a few emails you get from us this month, as we are nearrrrrly ready to share some Very Big News in addition to our regularly scheduled summer jams here at Chicory. I know "news" on its own doesn't have the greatest connotation at this point, but without tipping my hand I can assure that this isn't the kind of breaking news that will make you want to jump in a lake! (Unless it's to cool down, that is...)

I'll also be adding a couple book promotion events as we go along. I'd love to see as many of you sweet folks who pre-ordered (or those of you who have been waiting to check it out in person!) at the  Weaver and the Web Book Launch Party this coming Tuesday (!!!) BUT if you cannot make it, there will be other story times to join for sure. And if you ordered from afar, you'll be able to do your own read aloud very soon!

Tuesday July 7th / 2pm - 5pm / Weaver and the Web Book Launch! - Come one, come all, come big, come small to celebrate the launch of Chris's new picture book, Weaver and the Web! The reviewers have been loving it and we think you & your small people will too. The launch party is a free, drop-in affair with a photo booth, free snacks, gifties & activities, and of course book signing. That said, R.S.V.P. is dearly appreciated (though not required) for the 2:30pm and 4pm read alouds. Hope to see you there!   25 Broadway / Kingston, NY.

Sunday July 26th / 10:30am - 12:30pm / Mushroom Foray at Opus 40 - Come along with Chicory founder & certified forager Chris Baker for an hands-on, educational, and highly enjoyable walk through the dreamy woods surrounding one of the Hudson Valley's most iconic art destinations. Participants will learn important skills for mushroom identification, sustainable foraging practices, and appreciation for the many roles fungi play in our ecosystem. Sunday July 26th / 11:30am / Story Time with Amanda - Gather your little nature-lovers to the rug at Chicory for a free story time with the enchanting Amanda Marlow of Eco Art! Weather permitting we'll visit the ducks (with healthy duck snacks) down at the Rondout after reading some good books. 25 Broadway / Kingston NY.

Tuesday July 28th / 6pm - 8pm / Chicory Book Club - For hot July we're taking a trip down into the ocean depths to visit some incredible cephalopods with Peter Godfrey-Smith's Other Minds. Sy Montgomery says, "Exciting, dramatic, vidvid, revelatory, this book is full of jaw-dropping ideas and thrilling possibilities."
