August Sip n' Pin

$28.00
Friday, August 11th at 6:00-8:00PM
Chicory Naturalist: 25 Broadway, Kingston
Come learn about and practice the art of insect pinning! Insect pinning involves carefully mounting and preserving insect specimens onto display boards using specially designed pins, in a process that requires attention to detail and a steady hand. Mounted specimens provide an opportunity for close observations for those learning to ID insects, and pinning can be a useful skill for citizen scientists.

Join for an enjoyable evening as local entomologist Fiona Keating guides us through the pinning process and walk away with your own preserved specimen. Materials, insects, beverages and snacks will be provided, but feel free to bring your own insects and/or libation.

(Note: you can generally find recently deceased bugs on windowsills, near porch lights, and around gardens! Look for specimens with all their legs and and antennae intact.)

Chicory aims to make nature education accessible to all, so if the cost of the workshop is a barrier for you, free and reduced fees are available, just email Courtney at courtney@chicorynaturalist.com.  This event is intended for adults only.
