Description: For ages 8 - 12. A six week journey through different media with beloved local artist and elementary educator Johnny Owens! Focusing on subjects from nature (animals, plants, and fungi), week by week students will explore different artistic practices, starting with drawing fundamentals, then moving through painting, printmaking, and ending with sculpture. At the end of class we'll celebrate with an art show at The Classroom featuring work from every student!
Educator bio: Johnny (he/they) is a visual artist, musician, and elementary educator. A lifelong Hudson Valley resident, Johnny has been teaching kids' art and music classes on and off for the past 18 years. Johnny holds a bachelor's degree in Printmaking and a master's in Childhood Education. Depicting natural themes, and animals in particular, has been a lifelong preoccupation for Johnny, and this class will be an opportunity for Johnny to share what they have learned with the next generation of nature artists!
