August Events Bulletin

Screaming salutations from that one cicada outside your window-

As most of you have heard by now, we here at Chicory are currently gathering our energy up to myceliate into the other side of 25 Broadway! Y'all's response to our forthcoming events space has been incredibly heartening -- good fuel for the work ahead. While this move represents a major expansion of our capacities along with our overhead, our hope is that for you, beloved community, it will feel like a very ~organic~ outgrowth of the work we've been doing for years now. If you'd like to lend your input on decisions like what kinds of programming we should focus on, who we should collaborate with, how we should expand our inventory on the shop side, and more, we'd love you to take our community survey!

We're taking over the lease in mid-August, and will likely be closing for a few days to a week -- okay, probably a week -- after Labor Day to do some work connecting and building out the spaces. Several folks have expressed a very generous interest in helping out with this, so if you'd want to do some painting (or get out some angst by putting a couple holes in the walls?) please let us know and we'll loop you into the plans!

Lastly, as the days wane slowly toward autumn and back-to-school peeks up over the horizon, please consider donating to the Ulster Immigrant Defense Network's school supply drive, which aims to get more than 200 kids the tools they need to succeed this year. If you're able, you can donate backpacks, calculators or other supplies directly to UIDN, or give $38 through our campaign to donate 20 items at wholesale cost. Huge thanks to the many folks who have generously donated so far!

In gratitude,

Chris
